Learn about the
tanning bed types...
Tanning beds have been in existence for several
decades, however, great strides have been made
in recent years in the quality and technology.
Today, avid tanners, can enjoy many different
features, such as facial tanning, arm and side
tanning and leg tanning. Most tanning beds are
also equipped with stereo speakers so that the
user can listen to her favorite music while
tanning. The tanner can not only experience a
super tan, but can relax while she is achieving
that tan.
There are two main categories of tanning beds,
low-pressure tanning beds and high pressure
tanning beds, although, there are many other
types of tanning beds, but they are not as
popular.
Tanning bed users are most familiar with the
low-pressure tanning beds. These are indoor
tanning beds the ones that are most often used
in the tanning salons. They utilize the more
conventional low-pressure fluorescent tubes that
are most like natural sunlight. In fact, tanning
in the low-pressure tanning beds is very similar
to tanning outdoors in the natural sunlight.
Because of this fact, it is believed that the
low-pressure tanning beds are healthier and
safer than the high pressure tanning beds since
they are most like the natural sunlight.
The high-pressure tanning beds utilize high
pressure quartz lamps. These lamps are
specifically designed to emit a higher
percentage of UVA rays, which are the tanning
rays, and less UVB rays. Faster tanning is
achieved by using a high UVA content. In fact,
sometimes it is as much as six to eight times
faster. Also the reduction in the UVB element
decreases the chance that the tanner has of
getting sunburned.
